Announcements:
Late Assignment Policy- As of January 5th, 2009, I will no longer accept late assignments; in addition, only PF assignments will be allowed to be submitted via e-mail using proper e-mail submission. ALL assignments will be due at the end of class on that particular day...not at the end of the school day.
3rd Quarter Grades- Your preliminary grades are posted on the classroom website.
This Week At A Glance:
Science Exit Project- On Monday, we will continue with the process of selecting our project. Please bring your HOME SCIENCE JOURNAL daily to class.
Curriculum- Mr. Rovelli will continue teaching chapter 7 with class 371 on Mondays, classes 372-374 on Wednesdays. I will complete section 3 of chapter 8 this week and conduct a mini-review for the upcoming midterm.
Midterm Exam- Your midterm will be on Thursday and Friday on chapters 1-8.
Urban Advantage (UA) Vouchers- Students, who have not received their UA vouchers, will need to come see me during Advisory or at the beginning of 6th period.

1. Who is/was s/he???
Answer: Marian Anderson was an African-American singer. She sung at many events in other countries and impressed people. She was famous for becoming the first African American singer to perform as a member of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.
2. What do you think s/he meant???
Answer: I think that she meant that if you live in fear, then you will not be able to reason and will destroy your life. You will live as if everything isn't safe and you will not be able to accomplish anything in life.
Marian Anderson was the oldest of three daughters born to John and Anna Anderson. She focused on music and singing at assemblies, and graduating at age 18. She had difficulties getting a job because of her color. Marian Anderson died on April 8, 1993 in Portland, Oregon. Her quote "Fear is a disease that eats away at logic and makes man inhuman." makes people think about if they have told any lies in their life which they probably have. When you tell a lie it haunts you and makes you want to come clean. The longer you hold it in the more you can't live your life regularly until you tell the truth. This makes you crazy which she describes as being inhuman.

ReplyDeleteMarian Anderson_ she was one of the most respected singers of her time. She had a rich and vibrate voice. Her talent was so wonderful that she was ask to do tours, but refused.
What the quote mean to me- this quote means that fear is something that comes and go, like a small cold. But when you have it, you seem less of your self. You’re not exactly the same person you were before. Like you are "inhuman"
